No offense to anyone, and i'm not saying i'm much better myself. But what happened to DA?

every time i log on now i see a stream of "well i drew this and it kinda looks like a cat so i thought id like post it here" drawings, and so so so many "look at mah face ! " self portraits that are in no way thoughtful or art. I have to scroll (which is a huge amount of effort for me btw) for pages to get to a decent piece of art. right now the site is "Deviant" and not in the good way either. Im not saying that nobody but the professionals or the experienced should upload their work, this is the best site for new beginner photographers and artists to be, it is how i started and grew immensely. But there is a big difference between being an amateur, uploading your art and hoping to learn from criticisms, and uploading your work indiscriminately without it having much purpose.

Don't get me wrong, there are amazing beautiful inspiring works of art on here, but these are merely a few thousands within a multitude of hundreds of thousands of .. i don't even have a name for them. here are some examples:

i definitely, definitely do NOT want to see this crap: [link] , sure draw the celebrity, that's art, but putting 5 photos together is not something called art. i can go on forever, i have seen the most horrific things.

i needed a rant. and no i'm not saying i am one of those few that post nothing but masterpieces. I just feel the site is losing its purpose.
